Based on 970 reviewsWhittier Cafe is widely praised for its warm, inviting atmosphere that combines a cozy, culturally rich environment with a relaxed, quiet vibe ideal for both working and socializing. Customers appreciate the high-quality coffee and fresh, flavorful pastries, alongside accommodating and friendly service. The cafe’s unique setting in an older building adds character, complemented by varied seating options, including outdoor space and WiFi availability. Many also value its commitment to social justice and community advocacy, enhancing the overall experience. While parking can be limited at times, the presence of street parking and the welcoming ambiance encourage repeat visits, making Whittier Cafe a cherished local spot in Denver’s coffee scene.
Busy neighborhood cafe with breakfast items including pastries. The raspberry scone was delicious and paired well with a latte. Service was fast and friendly. The space is in an older building but was interesting. There are counter seats, tables and an outdoor seating area. They do have Wi-Fi available for guests and several people were on laptops. Parking is limited in the area.
Loved the atmosphere there. Chill, and quiet. Seemed like a great place to work, or hang out if that's what you want. The staff was kind and accommodating. I didn't try the coffee at the shop, but I did buy a quality cotton t-shirt, which I love. I went to the shop to buy their coffee beans. I bought a medium roast Rwanda coffee, and it delivered in spades. Brewed in a French press (for those that care). I highly recommend this coffee shop if you're in the greater Denver area.
Walking into Whittier Café feels like stepping into a warm hug—cozy, cultural, and so beautifully put together. The vibe alone makes you want to stay awhile, but then the coffee hits: bold, smooth, and unforgettable. Their pastries are fresh and flavorful, and the customer service? Absolutely top-tier—genuine smiles and real hospitality. This isn’t just a coffee shop, it’s an experience. Denver, you’re lucky to have this gem.
I was in the area and needed a quick bite and a cup of tea. Unlike most of the shops in this part of town, particularly to the west, there's lots of street parking at the Whittier Cafe. The folks were wonderful, the tea and food I ordered were perfect, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. There's an outdoor seating area too, so I'll be back in warmer months to come. Five stars and two thumbs up!
I came here to pick up coffee for a work event and was so sad I couldn't stay. The employees are so kind, the vibes are relaxing, and the coffee is GOOD. I ordered a to-go box of drip coffee and had an iced latte, both of which were phenomenal. Most importantly, I feel good about spending my money in a place that is social-justice oriented and advocates for others. I will absolutely be back!
An absolute gem! I stopped here purely because I needed to use the bathroom (and fine, I'll admit that I didn't NOT need to get some coffee and a scone) and.I was nearby, and as luck would have it I stumbled upon this amazing place. The coffee and scone were delicious, of course, but the atmosphere was what makes this place stand out. In these disturbing and terrifying times being in a space so clearly devoted to fighting injustice, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and all of the other forms of hated that are spreading like wildfire locally, statewide, nationally, and globally is a breath of fresh air. As a white, male-presenting US citizen I know that the most I have to worry about (at least for now...) is being "accidentally" detained temporarily. But my husband and most of my friends are refugees from Venezuela facing an unknown but certainly awful future and it often feels like no one else in this country thinks of them as fully human and deserving of the same basic human rights, opportunities, and ability to live with their families without fear or starvation. And of course the situation is the same for people from countries all over the world, usually as a direct result of the actions of the US. Anyway I'm getting off track, as usual. A+, 20/20, 100%. Great coffee, great baked goods, and lovingly tended plants. If you're in the area, or even if you're not, definitely stop by. I promise you won't regret it.
This coffee shop was so cute, and I really appreciated that they stayed open a little later than most spots. It was great to have solid food options too, not just coffee. The chai latte was excellent, and the paninis were absolutely on point. Definitely a place I’d come back to when I’m craving a cozy café vibe with good food to match.
Visiting my son and found this gem cafe!! Black-Owned cafe!!! Love Love!!! Super cute interior and vibe. The menu is straight forward with nothing to crazy. The have sweet breads and danishes. They also offer teas. Indoor and outdoor seating. Several spots to set up and get your work on as you enjoy a Honey Bear Latte!!! Don’t miss out on visiting this place!!
